Inspiration

I just needed a little inspiration to get me through the next several weeks until summer.... (click pics to enlarge)

My 101 in 1001

Bake something with the kids at least once a week
Blog at least once a month
Build "the biggest sandcastle at the lake" with the kids
Buy a bicycle
Buy a canvas, paint it & hang it in my home
Buy a hammock, hang it & use it
Clean the basement!
Complete at least 50% of this list
Create a birthday calendar & send friends/family real birthday cards instead of emails or FB msg's
Crochet a new hat/scarf for each member of the family
Decorate our camper/campsite Margaritaville-style
Do 1 load of laundry per day
Do an anonymous "pay it forward" for a stranger
Do the zipline at Meramec
Do yoga/pilates/treadmill once a week for at least 3 months
Donate 100K grains of rice through freerice.com to help end world hunger
Donate all unwanted clothing, toys, furniture, etc. to Goodwill or Salvation Army
Donate blood
Drink at least 3 glasses of water per day
Eat at 5 new restaurants
Enter Charlie into at least one agility or obedience class
Find a church we are all comfortable in, and attend regularly
Finish crocheting the baby blanket that Granny Great started over 12 years ago for Alison
Finish the kids' baby books (it's only been 11 & 8 years!)
Frame & hang family pictures
Get a professional massage
Get another (small) tattoo
Give Aidan his "camouflage" bedroom he's been begging for
Give up all sweet for one week, 5 times
Go apple picking with the family (or strawberry, or watermelon, etc.)
Go back to Vegas
Go bike riding on the Katy Trail
Go deep sea fishing
Go garage sale-ing
Go hiking/backpacking & tent camp with the kids
Go on a cruise
Go on a family float trip
Go on a family picnic, complete with basket
Go to a flea market & find something fabulous
Go to a Jimmy Buffett concert IN KEY WEST!!!
Go to a live improv comedy show
Go to a STL Rams game to see if I hate it live, like I do on TV
Go to a wine tasting
Have "dates" separately with each child, at least once a month
Have regular date nights with Jeff
Help Alison complete her '10 Things in 2011' list
Join a book club
Learn at least one song on my guitar
Learn to drive a stick shift
Learn to make at least one authentic Mexican dish
Lose 10 lbs... and keep it off!
Make a tiki-bar in the basement
Make another music video with the kids
Make flowerbeds in back of the house
Paint & decorate the basement, including the downstairs bathroom
Paint & decorate the master bedroom
Pay my years-overdue library fee
Perfect 5 "boat drink" recipes for summers at the lake
Perfect my MIL's hashbrown casserole
Plan/organize a winery trip for friends & family
Plant a few veggies/herbs to use in home-cooked meals
Put $5 in savings for every completed goal
Put in new carpet/flooring/tiles throughout the main floor of the house (ie kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom, living room, etc.)
Read at least 25 of Time's "All-Time 100 Novels"
Run a 1/2 marathon
Save for & buy new master bedroom furniture
Save money by bringing my own coffee & lunch to work, 2 times per week
Say a prayer every night
Scrape & re-paint the house (non-brick parts)
See a Cesar Millan show live
See a show at The Muny
See the Grand Canyon
Sell all my used books on ebay or a used book store
Spend a 4th of July at the lake & watch fireworks on the water
Spend a girls' weekend somewhere outside of STL
Spend a romantic weekend with Jeff, in a cabin in the mountains
Spend at least 1 hour per week maintaining flowerbeds
Start Christmas shopping in September
Start taking a multi-vitamin every day
Strip & re-stain the back deck
Submit at least 2 songs to BMI
Take 1 trip per year with Jeff somwhere outside of STL - NO KIDS ALLOWED!!!
Take a kids cooking class with Alison & Aidan
Take Ginger & Charlie for a walk every day for at least 30 minutes (weather permitting)
Take the kids back to the beach (any beach!)
Take the kids fishing
Take the kids horseback riding
Take the kids to a woodworking class at Lowe's/Home Depot
Take the kids to DisneyWorld
Take the kids to the top of the STL Arch
Take the kids to Washington, DC & visit the White House
Teach Charlie how to run on the treadmill
Throw a bbq/party for friends & family
Toilet train the cat
Trim & re-pot Granny Great's ivy
Try at least one new recipe per month
Visit at least 2 new States
Visit the Pacific Northwest again
Volunteer at an animal shelter
Write a letter to each child, to open on their wedding days
Write a letter to myself, to open in 10 years

While driving home with the kids after work, they started to argue (as they usually do). I pleaded with them, "Let's please not do this tonight. Mommy is tired & doesn't feel very good." Aidan came right back with, "Let's zip our arguing mouths, Ali. (giving a deep sigh) Boy, this is gonna hurt..." I had to hide my laughter.

Alison - When Aidan asked Alison where Australia is, she very sarcastically replied, "Everybody knows Australia is in China, Aidan."
